Australia is known for many things, probably often for the vast array of wildlife and outdoor adventure available to tourists. Probably the most popular are the Great Barrier Reef and the Australian Outback in Denmark Western Australia - the latter reaching fame of overwhelming proportions due to the Survivor mania. North Queensland is a plethora of natural resources.
The Great Barrier Reef, the huge outback and tropical rainforests, with diverse flora and fauna as well as scenic waterfalls, combine to make North Queensland immensely wealthy in natural splendor. It stretches along the Great Barrier Reef, North of the Tropic of Capricorn to the northernmost tip of Australia.
While Southern Queensland boasts of its Noosa, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast scenery like Hervey Bay and Surfer’s Paradise, the North boasts of both coastal resources in the East and lush rainforests from the Far North.
Northernmost Tip (Cape York)
In this region, one will find the Quinkan Reserve which is considered as a significant site of aboriginal archeological sites. This is because of the immense concentrations of cave arts that can be found in the reserve. The Quinkian Reserve, located in the town of Laura, contains thousands of art sites showcasing various distinct painting styles. These works of art were dated to be over thousands of years.
In this same region, the Pajinka Wilderness Lodge may also be found interesting by tourists going to North Queensland Weekends. Pajinka is a haven for naturalists, fishing enthusiasts and birdwatchers. Guided tours may be facilitated by the members of the local aboriginal community.
For nature trippers, would also enjoy the Jardine River. Queensland boasts of this as its chief perennial stream. The area includes swamps with different types of tropical growth believed to have originated in New Guinea. Among the sites worthy of note are Aboriginal Rock Paintings and distinctive vegetation and wildlife.
