Mackay
Mackay has a distinct tropical flavor due to the streets lined with huge Royal Palms, beaches and ferns with vividly colored parrots. Gemfields
Here, in the most expansive Sapphire fields in the world, 90% of the Sapphires available on the present market have originated. Sapphire and Rubyvale sapphire fields originated in 1875. Each year, in August, thousands of people from all over the world attend the Gemfest in which sizeable and singular sapphires unearthed on these fields are placed on exhibit.
