Port Douglas, Mossman and Daintree
Port Douglas consists of a rough coastline with long stretches of scenic, sometimes entirely isolated, beaches. The main attraction in this port is the Four Mile Beach. This is a winding stretch of white, rugged sand. This beach may be seen from the top of the promontory on one side of the town, along with Daintree and the open sea.
Diving and fishing is also popular in this port especially in the areas of the Outer Reef and Low Isles, which are islands on the Great Barrier Reef that remain undeveloped. These islands boast of true coral and mangrove, which provide a rich haven for marine life.
Daintree National Park
Daintree boasts of a large rainforest, the Daintree National Park, containing lush growth and wildlife like crocodiles and several birds and other animals. It also features waterfalls and gorges, like the Mossman Gorge. Visitors may also avail of Reef Cruises to view the reef from Daintree River. Daintree River may look quite appealing, but it is swarming with crocodile.
On the way to Mossman Gorge, one would be able to view The Good Shepherd rock formation, which is likened to Christ’s image as a shepherd. Mossman National Park also features the Mossman River providing swimming holes and picnic areas for visitors.
